What Is Stroke Or Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)?
Stroke, an acute onset of neurological dysfunction due to an abnormality in cerebral circulation with resultant signs and symptoms that involve focal areas of the brain. Motor deficits are characterized by paralysis (hemiplegia) or weakness (hemiparesis), typically on the side of the body opposite the side of the lesion.
Stroke can be classified into mild (13-15), moderate (9-12) and severe (3-8) using a Glasgow Coma Scale. Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) is a neurological scale used to provide a reliable way for the assessment of the patient.

Glasgow Coma Scale is the combined score (which ranges from 3 to 15) and the score of each test (E for eye, V for Verbal, and M for Motor). For each test, the value should be based on the best response that the person being examined can provide. The score is expressed in the form "GCS 9 = E2 V4 M3 =2+4+3=9. Patients with scores of 3-8 are usually considered to be in a coma.
