EXERCISES CAN HELP IN MANAGING SPRAINS AND STRAINS
Exercises can help in managing sprains and strains. Exercise can aid in the healing process by increasing blood flow to the affected area, improving flexibility, and building strength to support the injured tissue. However, it's important to start gradually and perform exercises that are appropriate for the specific injury and level of healing.
1.Active End-range Knee Extension
Sit with your legs out straight and take support from your arms behind you. Place a foam roller under your knee. Push the back of your knee down against the foam roller and then straighten your leg, lifting your heel from the floor. Hold this position, then control the movement back to the start position.
2.Isometric Shoulder Adduction
Stand with your elbow bent. Place a ball between your elbow and your side, slightly to your front. Squeeze the ball with your arm. Hold for a moment and then relax.
3. Pelvic Tilt Core/abdominal Strengthening
Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Pull your bellybutton towards your spine and clench your buttock muscles to roll the tail bone up off the floor. The majority of the effort should come from your abdominal and buttock muscles. Your lower back should press firmly into the floor. Relax and repeat.
4. Wrist Extension Strengthening Isometric
Sit upright in a chair. Place your affected arm on a table with your wrist hanging over the edge, palm facing down and fingers gently curled. Use your opposite hand to resist the wrist from bending back towards the ceiling. Try to hold this position without moving.
5.Ankle Dorsiflexion Strengthening Isometric
Sit up straight in a chair. Place your good foot on top of your affected foot. Try to lift the ball of your affected foot upwards, resisting the movement with your good foot. Hold this position.
