EXERCISES CAN HELP IN MANAGING VARICOSE VEINS.

Exercising can help in managing varicose veins. Varicose veins occur when the valves in the veins fail to function correctly, causing blood to pool in the veins and resulting in enlarged, twisted veins.

1.Ankle Circles

The ankle circles help with flexibility of your ankles, this is important for walking and balance.
Sit upright with your back supported before straightening your leg to do the ankle circles.
Lift your leg up and begin making large slow circles with your foot in one direction for the required number of repetitions.
Switch legs and make circles with the other ankle in the same direction.
Switch legs again and reverse the direction of the movement, perform the required number of repetitions firstly with one ankle and then repeat with the other.
Try to stretch your ankle as much as you can as you feel the stretch in your ankle, foot, and in your lower leg.

2.Hamstrings In Lying

If you are unable to raise your leg to 90 degrees with a straight leg then rest your leg against the wall in a lower position.
Lie on your back with one knee bent and the other leg resting up the wall in a straight leg raise position or supported with an exercise band. Your pelvis will want to tilt back into flexion which means you will lose the hamstring stretch so make sure you are in neutral. Make sure there is enough space under your back for your hand.
Engage your pelvic floor and deep transverse abdominals.
Turn out slightly at the hip to engage gluteus medius and maximus. This will decrease the tension and activity in your medial hamstring.
Activate VMO by slowly pushing the back of your knee straight. This will also decrease the tension in your medial hamstring. Feel a stretch at the back of your knee. Hold the stretch.

3. Supine Leg Cycling

Start in a lying position. Make cycling movements with both legs.
Take care that this exercise is performed smoothly in well rounded cycles.

4.Active-Assisted Knee Flexion

Sit in a chair with legs straight out in front.
Lift on leg up and bend your knee and bring it towards your chest.
Use your hands on your shin to pull your leg in further at the end.
Briefly hold and then let go to extend the leg out.
Repeat actively flexing as far as you can and assisting the last range with your arms.
Keep torso upright throughout.

5.Elevated Leg

Lie on your back with your legs elevated.
Sleep with legs in elevation.
