Exercises can be helpful in managing Erb's palsy, a type of brachial plexus injury that affects the arm and shoulder. Physical therapy and specific exercises can help improve strength, flexibility, and range of motion in the affected arm. Exercises may also help reduce pain and prevent the development of muscle imbalances. In some cases, other treatments such as surgery may also be necessary.
1.Finger Extension
Lie your baby on their back. Hold your baby's affected arm. Gently stretch out their fingers as straight as you can. Do not force this movement against any resistance.
2.Thumb Radial Abduction
Lie your baby down. Hold the baby's arm, then gently straighten out their thumb as far as it will go. Do not force this movement against resistance.
3.Shoulder Abduction
Lie your baby on their back. Hold both of your baby's hands. Slowly take their arms out to the side and up to their ears. Do not force this movement against any resistance. Gently move the arms back down again before you repeat the movement.
4.Shoulder Flexion
Lie your baby on their back. Hold both of your baby's hands. Slowly lift their arms forwards and up so they are next to their ears. Do not force this movement against resistance. Gently move the arms back down again before you repeat the movement.
5.Elbow Flexion
Lie your baby on their back. Hold the baby's upper arm with one hand and the lower arm with the other. Gently bend the forearm so that the elbow is completely bent. Do not force this movement against any resistance. Hold this position as directed and then relax and repeat.
