EXERCISES CAN HELP IN MANAGING ASTHMA

Regular physical activity and exercises can be helpful for people with asthma, as they can help improve lung function, reduce inflammation, and decrease symptoms.

1.Diaphragmatic Breathing

Sit in a comfortable position.
Close your eyes.
Place one hand on your chest and one hand on your upper stomach.
Inhale through your nose.
You should feel your stomach rise under your hand.
The hand on your chest should not move.
Exhale very slowly and steadily through your mouth.
Your stomach should relax under your hand.
Repeat until you feel your breathing is more comfortable.

2.Breathing, Pursed Lips

Take a breath in through your nose, as if you are smelling something.
Pucker your lips like you are getting ready to blow out candles on a birthday cake.
Breathe out very slowly through pursed-lips, taking two to three times as long as the time spent to breathe in at the start of the exercise.
Continue on as directed.

3.Breathing Control, Relaxation

Take a normal size breath in through your nose and then breathe out through your nose.
When you have breathed out comfortably, hold your breath but only for a comfortable amount of time.
When you have done this, take 20 very small silent breaths in through your nose.
Continue to breathe in and out of your nose until your breathing feels relaxed.

4.Deep Breathing Exercise

Start in a comfortable seated position with minimal distractions around you.
Step 1 - deep inhale through your nose
Step 2 - hold your breath for 2 seconds
Step 3 - long exhale through your mouth
Focus on your breath.
It is natural for your mind to wander, so when it does you need only come back to your breath.
Pay particular attention to the long slow breath out.
As you become more comfortable with this practice, start to imagine the breath as it flows in and out of your lungs.

5. Huff Cough Forced Expiration Technique

Sit upright in a chair with your shoulders relaxed.
Take a deep breath in through your nose, filling your lungs.
Allow your abdomen to push out as you fill the bases of your lungs.
